The lotus of the old palaces
At 44 inches the whole lotus composition is yours to see, and worn open as a shawl, every petal shows.
It comes from the palaces of Thang Long, Hanoi's imperial capital from the 11th to the 15th century, where lotus petals were carved into the stone bases of the columns beneath the roof.
In Vietnam the lotus is loved for rising from the mud without taking on its smell, and it makes a quiet, graceful motif to wear. Our journal tells more of what the Imperial Lotus motif means.

Is it real silk?
Yes, Grade 5A mulberry silk, all of it. An outside lab confirmed it. The Textile Testing Center belongs to the Vietnam Textile Research Institute.
Test it at home with the small silk cutting in the box.
Burn a corner of it over a sink, away from anything flammable, with no children nearby. Silk burns with a smell like burning hair and leaves a soft ash that crushes between your fingers. Polyester melts into a hard bead. It is a home check, not lab proof.

Is the lotus the fabric?
No. The lotus is a hand-printed design. The fabric is 100% Grade 5A mulberry silk.
Will it wrinkle in a bag?
Silk creases when folded tight. Iron it faintly damp on the lowest silk setting and the lines go.
Inside the $197
Every hem is rolled and stitched by hand. That takes close to an hour, even on a small square. Each face of the silk is printed separately. There is one screen and one pass for every color. Our studio redrew the motif by hand from archive sources.
A 44 inch square has almost 15 feet of hand-rolled edge.
We make everything in our own Hanoi atelier and ship straight to you, with the import duty paid.
How long will it take?
It leaves Hanoi within 1 to 3 business days and reaches a US address in 9 to 15 business days.
Plan on about three and a half weeks before a trip, at most 18 business days.
Duties and returns
Duties: Folk Form pays the US import duty. Nothing is collected at delivery.
Returns: within 30 days, unused, unwashed and unworn, in the original box. For a change of mind, the return postage is yours. Store credit adds 15%.

Every scarf ships in a rigid gift box with its own bag. The silk is folded in tissue. Inside: a story card and a styling guide with more than 20 ties. There is also a care card and a small silk cutting.

How to care for it
Cold water, shampoo or body wash, no detergent. Every 3 to 5 wears is plenty.
Never wring it. Press out the water and dry it flat, out of the sun. Iron it damp on the lowest silk setting.
