A palace lotus to wear in your hair

The lotus comes from the imperial palaces of Thang Long in Hanoi, where between the 11th and 15th centuries its petals were carved into the stone column bases beneath the roof. Our motif guide explains what the Imperial Lotus motif means.
In Vietnam the lotus is loved because it rises from the mud with none of it clinging, and wrapped high over the hair it sits like a small, graceful crown.

Is it real silk?
Yes. 100% Grade 5A mulberry silk. It was tested by an outside lab. That lab is the Textile Testing Center, Vietnam Textile Research Institute.
You can check it yourself. A small cutting of the silk is in the box.
Burn a thread or a corner of it over a sink, away from anything flammable, with no children nearby. Silk burns with a smell like burning hair and leaves a soft ash that crushes between your fingers. Polyester melts into a hard bead. It is a home check, not lab proof.

Is it lotus fabric?
The lotus lives in the print, pulled by hand through the screen, while the cloth is 100% Grade 5A mulberry silk.
How often should I wash a wrap?
Every 3 to 5 wears, or more often if you wear it every night. Cold water and shampoo.
Where the $153 goes
Each hem is rolled by hand, close to an hour for every square, and both faces are printed with a separate screen and a separate pass for each color. Before any screen was made, the motif was redrawn by hand from archive sources.
From 26 to 36 inches the silk nearly doubles, with 676 square inches becoming 1,296.
The hand-rolled edge grows with it, from about 8.5 to 12 feet of fine stitching.
We work from our own Hanoi atelier and ship direct. The US import duty is on us.
How long will it take?
1 to 3 business days of processing in Hanoi, then 9 to 15 business days to a US address.
Two to three and a half weeks door to door, at most 18 business days.
Duties and returns
Duties: we pay the US import duty, so you owe nothing at the door.
Returns: 30 days, unused, unwashed and unworn, in the original box. Change-of-mind return postage is paid by you. Choose store credit instead of a refund and we add 15%.

How it arrives

How to care for it
Every 3 to 5 wears is enough. Silk does not hold dust.
Cold water with shampoo or body wash, not laundry detergent. Squeeze, never wring. Dry flat in the shade. Iron on the lowest silk setting while it is still damp.
