Cufflinks are the thing almost nobody buys for themselves.
Which is exactly why they work as a gift.
A man will replace a tie when the old one wears out. He will not go out and buy cufflinks, because they sit just past the line of things that feel necessary. That is the whole reason this set exists: it puts the tie he would have bought anyway in a box with the thing he would not.

One thing to check before you order. Cufflinks only work on a shirt with double cuffs, sometimes called French cuffs - the kind that folds back and has holes on both sides instead of a button. Most men's shirts do not have them. If you are not sure he owns one, the tie on its own is still the better gift, and the jacquard ties start at the same price.
Where blue jade goes
With a navy suit The pairing this color was chosen for. Blue jade sits a shade off navy rather than matching it, which is what stops the tie disappearing into the jacket the way a true navy tie does.

Blue jade is the color we would pick first for somebody whose wardrobe we had never seen - it goes with navy and gray, which is what most men own.
Woven, not printed, and why that matters on a tie
A tie is folded at exactly the same point every time it is worn. Print a pattern onto silk and that ink sits on the surface, so the fold works the layer back and forth until it fractures. It shows first as a dull line at the knot, then as pale threads.
This is jacquard. The pattern is a difference in how the threads run, so there is no layer to crack. Run a thumbnail across it and you feel weave rather than ink.
On a scarf the opposite is true - printing holds finer detail than weaving can, and a scarf is never folded twice in the same place. Each technique is right for a different shape of thing, which is why our scarves are printed and every tie we make is woven.
Three things it lets you stop doing
A specification is worth nothing until you can say what changes because of it.
Buying a tie and cufflinks separately means guessing whether the metal tone and the silk sit right together. These were made to go in the same box, so that guess is gone.
You stop assembling a gift out of parts.
The fold line is where a printed tie shows its age first. There is nothing printed here to crack, lift or go pale.
You stop replacing ties that still fit.
Most men's tailoring is navy or gray. Blue jade was chosen to sit beside both rather than against either, which is the practical reason it works when you do not know somebody's wardrobe.
You stop hoping it matches something.
Why $61 for two pieces
This is the same price as the standalone geometric jacquard ties, which is deliberate. The cufflinks are made in the same atelier in the same run, so they cost us the setup rather than a separate supply chain.
Jacquard itself costs more to make than printing before a thread is woven, because the pattern has to be built into the loom setup rather than applied to finished cloth. A short custom run carries that setup across few meters. We post straight to you and pay the US import duty, so the number on this page is the number you pay.
How to care for a silk tie
Dry clean only. This is not the same advice we give for scarves, and the reason is construction. A tie is three layers - the outer silk, an interlining that gives it body, and the tipping at the ends - all cut on the bias so the tie hangs straight. Water makes those layers shrink at different rates, and once that happens the tie twists and there is no way back.
Never machine wash and never hand wash. A stain goes to a cleaner, not a sink.
Untie it properly. Reverse the knot rather than pulling the narrow end through. Pulling stretches the bias and is the second most common way a tie is ruined.
Hang it or roll it. Hanging lets the bias settle overnight. Rolling loosely suits a drawer or a suitcase better than folding, which sets a crease across the width.
The cufflinks need nothing beyond a dry cloth. Keep them out of water and off a bathroom shelf.
Which tie should I be looking at?

Width 8cm is standard and works with almost every lapel currently made. The 6cm slim suits narrow lapels and younger cuts.
Getting it there in time
If there is a date attached to this, it is worth reading before you order.
Nine to fifteen business days to a US address, counted from the day it leaves Hanoi. That is the honest range, not a best case.
For Christmas delivery in the US, we recommend ordering by November 27.
