The evening before the partners meet, he lays the tie across the bed and the purple reads almost black until the lamp reaches it, then a silver dragon rises out of the weave.
The Ly Dynasty dragon, woven in silk, with cufflinks to match.

Purple is a color a man wears once he has stopped worrying about what the room thinks. Given as a gift, it says you have watched him earn his seat.

Round cufflinks in the same violet sit beside the tie in a rigid box, so he opens one gift and finds the whole outfit finished.

The dragon is woven into 100% mulberry silk jacquard, so the silver outline is thread and not a print. Tie: 8 cm wide, 145 cm long, made in our Hanoi atelier.

We pay the import duty, not you.

1 to 3 business days to leave our Hanoi atelier, then 9 to 15 business days to reach you in the US. Shipping is free on this set, as on all orders $90+.

A dragon for the man who leads

Begin with the dragon, because it is older than the tie. Ly Dynasty artists drew it in Thang Long, now Hanoi, after the imperial citadel was begun in 1010.

It has no scales and a soft body that moves like water, with a crest of flame and the old character for thunder on its forehead. Thunder in a farming country means rain, so this is a dragon that brings the harvest, not one that frightens.

Here the dragon is outlined in pale silver thread over a deep violet ground, with small woven checks beneath it. Turn the tie in the light and the ground shifts between plum and charcoal while the dragon stays crisp. In Vietnamese art the dragon stands for strength, wisdom and success, which is why it goes to people who lead.

How he will wear it

Charcoal or navy suit The violet reads as a quiet depth against dark cloth, and the silver outline catches the light at the knot.

White or pale blue shirt Gives the dragon room to show, and the cufflinks sit at the cuff where a hand reaches for a glass.

Black tie evenings A dark, rich tie for a dinner or a launch where a plain black one would disappear.

Cufflinks and width The cufflinks need double (French) cuffs. The tie is 8 cm, the standard width for almost every lapel.

Is it real silk?

Yes, 100% mulberry silk, woven as jacquard with the dragon in the weave.

ELLE Vietnam and Harper's Bazaar Vietnam have both covered our studio.

Why $224

The $224 covers the whole set, the woven dragon tie plus the violet cufflinks. The tie alone is $167, which puts the cufflinks at $57.

We pay the US import duty on it, and it arrives boxed, so there is nothing left for you to wrap. The set alone is above the $90 line, so shipping is free.

Does he wear French cuffs?

Look for a cuff that folds back on itself with no buttons. That is a double (French) cuff, and the cufflinks need one.

If every shirt he owns buttons at the wrist, the tie alone suits him better. Here is the same dragon tie on its own at $167.

Will it arrive in time?

For Christmas delivery in the US, we recommend ordering by November 27.

1 to 3 business days to leave Hanoi, then 9 to 15 business days to a US address.

Allow up to 18 business days, about three and a half weeks, from the day you order.

Duties and returns

Duties: we pay the US import duty, so nothing is owed at the door.

Returns: 30 days, unused, unwashed and unworn, in the original box. If you changed your mind, the return postage is yours. Take store credit instead of a refund and we add 15%.

Sending it to him

Enter his address as the shipping address and yours as billing. Write your note in Order Notes and we copy it by hand onto a card. No price travels in the parcel.

A promotion Give it the week the news is public, so he can wear it to the first meeting in the new role.

A graduation or a new business A dragon for the road ahead, set in a box he can keep on his desk.

A mentor or a boss A thank you that says what the years were worth, without a word of speech.

For another color The Emerald set and the Blue Jade set are woven geometric ties with cufflinks, $191 each.

How to care for it

Dry clean only. Never wash it, by hand or in a machine.

Untie it by reversing the knot. Do not pull the narrow end through.

Hang it or roll it loosely between wears.

Folk Form Silk Jacquard Necktie: Elegance & Sophistication for Every Style

Celebrate the essence of a gentleman with luxurious designs crafted from premium silk jacquard, seamlessly blending artisanal craftsmanship with global standards.

  • Necktie – A Gentleman’s Style Statement

Folk Form proudly presents a product line of handcrafted necktie made from jacquard, woven by 100% mulberry silk fiber. More than just an accessory, a necktie is a statement of style. Each design blends colors, patterns, woven texture and fine craftsmanship to create a distinctive, unmatched elegance. Perfect for every occasion—from the office to grand events—it ensures gentlemen exude sophistication and charm wherever they go.

  • History Of The Necktie

The origin of the necktie is widely debated with traces found in ancient Egypt, Rome and China. Egyptians wore necktie to signify status, Roman soldiers used them for warmth, and Qin Dynasty warriors had silk ones. In the 17th century, Croatian soldiers presented neckties to France, where King Louis XIV popularized them. From there, neckties spread across Europe, evolving into their modern form in the 1920s. October 18 is now celebrated as International Necktie Day.

  • A Symbol Of Sophistication

A necktie is more than just an ordinary fashion accessory—it is a bold symbol of sophistication. With a single necktie, a gentleman can transform his style, from the classic elegance of the 1920s to the refined charm of the 21st century. Rather than following fleeting trends, Folk Form honors minimalism and timeless factors through meticulously crafted neckties—designed not for the masses, but for those who truly understand the essence of luxury.

NEED HELP?

Before you order

When will it arrive?

Every order leaves our Hanoi atelier within 1 to 3 business days. U.S. delivery takes 9 to 15 business days after dispatch, and tracking is emailed the moment it ships. Buying for a date? Email Folkformint@gmail.com right after you order and we will expedite wherever we can.

What does shipping cost? Will I owe import duty?

Shipping is free on orders of $90 or more and a flat $20 below that, shown before you pay. On U.S. orders we pay the import duty, so nothing is owed at your door. If a carrier ever bills you for duty, send us the receipt and we refund it in full.

Is it ready to give?

Yes. A tie needs no size, which makes it the easiest silk gift to get right. It arrives in a rigid gift box with a story card. Add a message at checkout and we write it by hand. There is never a price inside the parcel.

What is it made of?

Every tie is 100% mulberry silk jacquard: the pattern is woven into the cloth rather than printed on top, so there is no ink layer to crack at the knot. Each one is made in our Hanoi atelier.

Which width should I choose?

8cm is the classic width and suits almost every lapel. 6cm is slimmer, for narrow lapels and slim-cut suits.

Can I return it?

Yes, within 30 days of delivery, unworn, in its original box. If something is our fault, we pay postage both ways. On U.S. orders under $100 we also offer a gift exchange: if it is not right for him or her, email Folkformint@gmail.com with your order number and we issue store credit for the full price of the piece, and you do not need to send it back. One gift exchange per order and per household. Otherwise, if you changed your mind you cover return postage, and choosing store credit instead of a refund adds 15%.

How do I care for it?

Dry clean only. Untie it by reversing the knot, then hang it or roll it loosely overnight and the creases fall out on their own.
