Reunions are awkward to shop for. You know who she was, not quite who she is now, and anything too personal assumes a closeness you are still rebuilding. A necklace in soft green printed silk is warm without presuming.
The silk is hand screen-printed, cut from the same cloth as our scarves, and wrapped by hand around about 180 wooden beads. Because the print is broken up bead by bead, no two beads match.
We pay the import duty, not you.
Orders are dispatched from Hanoi in 1 to 3 business days and take 9 to 15 business days to reach a US address. Shipping costs $20 below $90 and nothing from $90.
Why a soft green for a friendship
When a friend comes back into your life after a long gap, green is the color we suggest. It is fresh without being loud, and in a pastel shade it sits easily with most wardrobes.
The print adds the depth. Our designs begin as hand drawings, made in the studio from archive photographs of Ly and Tran art, with a separate screen cut for each color. On a bead the size of a fingertip, you see a fragment: an edge, a second tone.
From a step back the necklace looks like soft green texture. Up close it looks drawn, which gives her something to look at when she opens the box.

Is it real silk?
Yes, mulberry silk, printed by hand and wrapped around each wooden bead.

Why $75
The silk is printed by hand before it is ever cut, one screen per color. After that, about 180 beads are each wrapped in it and knotted onto the cord by hand.
That printing is why it costs more than our plain necklaces at $64. There is no metal or stone. Our Hanoi atelier makes it and ships it to you.
Will it arrive before we meet?
1 to 3 business days to leave Hanoi, 9 to 15 business days in transit to the US.
For a set date, order 18 business days ahead, around three and a half weeks. Otherwise, send it straight to her with a note.
Duties and returns
Duties: covered by Folk Form. Nothing to pay at the door.
Returns: 30 days, unused and unworn, in the original box. On a change of mind you pay the return postage. Store credit adds 15%.
Giving it to her
It comes gift boxed. To send it to her, use her address for shipping and yours for billing, and write your message in Order Notes. We write it out by hand on a card, and no price appears in the parcel.
