A phoenix on a man's shirt
The phoenix is the empress's bird, paired with the emperor's dragon. On a man's shirt it keeps its older meaning: that things are well.
Phoenix Dance comes from Ly and Tran Dynasty temple carving in northern Vietnam. The Ly phoenix resembles a native peacock or pheasant, with plumage in five colors for the five elements.
Purple is a deep ground, so it sits comfortably with navy, gray and charcoal.
