Someone cared for a person you love.
Thank her with a small square of silk.
A nurse, a home aide, a hospice volunteer: the people who carry a family through a hard season rarely receive more than a card. This 22-inch silk bandana is a thank-you she can hold and keep, and it asks nothing of her, no size and no taste to guess.
Twelve colorways in three motifs, each in 100% Grade 5A mulberry silk at 16 momme, hand screen-printed on both faces and finished with hand-rolled edges, at $75.

Begin with the motif
Each of our motifs carries its own meaning: the dragons honor what someone has done, and the phoenix celebrates who someone is.
Dragon of Grace suits a caregiver beautifully. Its name speaks of grace given freely, and it repeats one small Ly Dynasty dragon in a calm, even pattern.
Dragon Dreams draws the same citadel dragon in a bolder layout, four large dragons turning toward a bodhi leaf. Phoenix Dance is the empress's bird, a wish for grace and renewal.
Then find her color
At 22 inches it ties to a bag handle, a wrist, a ponytail or in a small knot at the neck; to wrap the hair or cover the shoulders, our guide to which size to choose shows the larger squares.
Is it real silk?
It is 100% Grade 5A mulberry silk, 16 momme. The Textile Testing Center of the Vietnam Textile Research Institute tested it. That is an independent lab, not ours.
The box includes a small cutting of the same silk, so you can test it yourself.
Burn a thread or a corner of the cutting over a sink, away from anything flammable, with no children nearby. Silk burns with a smell like burning hair and leaves a soft ash that crushes between your fingers. Polyester melts into a hard bead. It is a home check, not lab proof.
ELLE Vietnam and Harper's Bazaar Vietnam have both covered our studio.
Buying for several people?
Choose a different color for each. Two squares in one order ship free. To send each one to a different address, place separate orders.
Which motif says thank you?
Dragon of Grace for care given freely, or Phoenix Dance when she has become a friend as much as a helper.
What $75 holds
Every hem is rolled and stitched by hand, close to an hour of work even on a small square. Each face of the silk is printed in turn, one screen and one pass for every color, from a motif our studio redrew by hand from archive sources.
Worn once a week for five years, the 22-inch square comes to under 30 cents a wear.
We make everything in our own Hanoi atelier and ship straight to you, with the import duty paid.
How long will it take?
It leaves Hanoi within 1 to 3 business days and reaches a US address in 9 to 15 business days.
About two to three and a half weeks, at most 18 business days.
Duties and returns
Duties: Folk Form pays the US import duty. Nothing is collected at delivery.
Returns: within 30 days, unused, unwashed and unworn, in the original box. For a change of mind, the return postage is yours. Store credit adds 15%.
Who else will treasure it
A home aide or caregiver Dragon of Grace, for grace so freely given.
A nurse who stayed late Phoenix Dance, to honor who she is.
A doctor who saw it through Dragon Dreams, for all she did.
How it arrives
Every scarf ships in a rigid gift box with its own bag. The silk is folded in tissue. Inside: a story card and a styling guide with more than 20 ties. There is also a care card and a small silk cutting.
Ordering for her? Ship to her address and bill to yours. Leave your note in Order Notes, and we handwrite it on a card. There is no price inside.
How to care for it
Cold water, shampoo or body wash, no detergent. Every 3 to 5 wears is plenty.
Never wring it. Press out the water and dry it flat, out of the sun. Iron it damp on the lowest silk setting.
