A dragon built from thread
This dragon comes from the Hoang Thanh Thang Long citadel in Hanoi, begun in 1010. It is a Ly Dynasty dragon, and it looks nothing like the fierce creature most people picture.
Its body curves slowly like water, without scales. A flame crest rises from the head, and the thunder character sits on its brow. In a rice-growing civilization thunder brings rain, so this is the dragon of a good harvest.
A dragon stands for strength, wisdom and success, which is why it suits a promotion, a graduation, the opening of a business, or a man who leads a team.
It is jacquard, never printed. The figure is woven from the threads themselves, so on black it shows as a change of sheen, and the fold at the knot is silk folding over silk.
With what he already owns
Charcoal or navy suit The tie reads as plain black from across the table, and the dragon is there for the person sitting beside him.
White shirt, no jacket In daylight the weave shows as texture, deliberate and never overdressed.
Black suit, evening Tone on tone, so the dragon is the only detail that separates tie from jacket.
Cufflinks and width The cufflinks need double (French) cuffs. The tie is 8 cm, the standard width for almost every lapel.
Is it real silk?

Does Dad wear French cuffs?
Look for a cuff that folds back on itself with no buttons. That is a double (French) cuff, and the cufflinks need one.

For Christmas delivery in the US, we recommend ordering by November 27.

8cm is the classic width and suits almost every lapel. 6cm is slimmer, for narrow lapels and slim-cut suits.
Yes, within 30 days of delivery, unworn, in its original box. If something is our fault, we pay postage both ways. On U.S. orders under $100 we also offer a gift exchange: if it is not right for him or her, email Folkformint@gmail.com with your order number and we issue store credit for the full price of the piece, and you do not need to send it back.
