Deep red silk, knotted at the throat, and every glance finds it.
A Ly Dynasty dragon, worn like a signature.

Picture it against a black coat on a gray morning: the red catches the light each time she turns her head, and the silk settles back into its knot as if it had been placed there by hand. This is the color for a woman who enjoys being noticed with grace, and for a gift that should be remembered along with the person who gave it. If she prefers a quieter note, the same dragon comes in navy.

A 26-inch square of mulberry silk in deep red, printed by hand with a Ly Dynasty dragon drawn from eleventh-century stonework in Hanoi. At sixteen momme it has the body to hold a knot, and both faces carry the same depth of color, so every fold shows red, at the throat or tied back as a silk head scarf.

What red is lovely with

Black The most striking pairing of all: a red knot at the neck makes a black outfit look chosen with intention.

A white shirt and jeans Two plain pieces and one red knot make a complete look, the kind that comes together on a busy morning in a moment.

Gray and charcoal Gray can feel muted under office light, and a flash of red brings the whole outfit back to life in two seconds.

Camel and cream Warmer and softer than the black pairing, the autumn version and the one that photographs most beautifully.

Red is loveliest worn small: knotted at the neck or tied in the hair against something plain, where it reads as a bright accent and never a costume.

Same size, other colorways: Orange & Dark Green · Navy Blue · Green & Yellow · Pink & Turquoise

Red, printed with patience

Red is the color that shows its making. Here the depth runs evenly from edge to edge, and the lines of the dragon stay crisp where one screen meets the next, so the drawing reads cleanly at arm's length and up close.

Each color goes on through its own screen, one pass at a time, by hand in Hanoi, and the silk is printed through both faces. That is why the red inside the fold of a knot matches the red of the open square.

You are welcome to test the silk yourself. A small cutting of the same silk comes in the box, and the burn test below needs no more than a corner of it.

Made for the everyday

01
Weight that holds the knot

Sixteen momme gives the cloth enough body for a knot to settle and lock, so the red stays exactly where she tied it from breakfast to the last toast.

02
Four accessories in one square

Hair, neck, bag and wrist, with no clasp, ring or hardware and nothing that keeps it to one outfit.

03
Deep red through both faces

A knot shows the underside every time, so both faces here are printed to the same depth, and the square reads red from whatever angle it falls.

04
Drawn by hand from the archive

Each line of the dragon was redrawn in our studio from photographs of eleventh-century stone, and the drawing keeps the grace of a hand at work.

Try the silk at home

The cutting in the box comes from the same bolt as your square, so the burn test can be done on that little piece and the scarf stays untouched.

Mulberry silk Polyester
The smell Singed hair Acrid, like plastic
What is left Soft ash that crushes between your fingers Melts into a hard bead

Nobody hands you the means to catch them out unless they already know what you will find.

If you try it: over a sink, clear of anything that can catch, not with children in the room. A corner is enough. It is a home check, not lab proof.

Rather not hold a flame to anything? The silk is tested at the Textile Testing Center, part of the Vietnam Textile Research Institute. Outside lab, outside paperwork.

What $97 buys

The $18 one is polyester. In a photograph it can pass for this, and in the hand the difference is plain at once; the burn test above tells the two apart.

Each step is handwork. The hem is rolled by hand, close to an hour of work, and printing both faces sends the cloth through the press twice. An artist in our studio draws the motif from the archive, and we make the whole square in our own atelier in Hanoi and send it straight to you, which is how it comes to $97.

26 in Headband, ponytail, neck knot this one
36 in → Full head wrap, sleep wrap, all the 26 does · $153
44 in → Shoulder wrap, and the only size the whole composition fits on · $197

In red specifically, the 26 is the size to take. Small enough that the color stays an accent, large enough to do hair as well as neck.

Which motif should I be looking at?

Every Folk Form motif carries a different wish; begin with the person you are choosing for.

Buying for an achievement A promotion, a milestone, a leader, a corporate gift: for moments like these, choose a dragon, and we draw it two ways. Here four large dragons sit at the corners and turn toward a bodhi leaf at the center, so the square reads as one picture; Dragon of Grace, also printed in red, repeats the same Ly Dynasty creature eight times in center symmetry, and in a color this strong its finer pattern reads more quietly.

Buying for a person A mother, a new chapter, a recovery, a woman you want to celebrate for who she is: Phoenix Dance, the empress's bird beside the dragon's emperor, printed in the soft pastels its gentle meaning calls for.

Buying for a couple For a wedding or an anniversary, the mandarin duck motif is the one made for two.

“I love these, but I would never know how to tie one”

There is nothing to learn: no pins, no rings, nothing to memorize. Standing at the hallway mirror, she can tie any of these four in less than a minute.

The neck knot Fold a triangle, roll it, wrap it once and slide a loose knot off center; in red over a white shirt, it is the entire outfit.

The headband Fold it from corner to corner, roll it into a band and tie it at the nape, tucking the tails away.

The ponytail wrap Two turns around the elastic, a knot on top, and the red ends falling free.

The bag roll Roll it narrow and wind it up the handle to a small bow, a flash of red on a black bag on the days it is not at her neck.

More than twenty further ways to tie it are drawn in the illustrated guide in the box.

Using it as a sleep wrap

For shorter or finer hair this 26-inch square wraps easily for the night, and for long, thick or tightly coiled hair the 36 inch brings more cloth to work with. Our guide to which size to choose compares all four sizes.

Giving red as a gift

Red is the color to send when the gift should be felt the moment the lid lifts. Navy is the quiet choice, and a present can be allowed a little more joy than that.

It will hang in her wardrobe for years, and every time she reaches for it she will think of you. Things we keep grow dearer with time, while the price is forgotten almost at once.

It gives her a story to tell as well. When the table admires it at a birthday dinner, she can say: it is a Ly Dynasty dragon, my daughter found it.

For Lunar New Year Red and a Ly Dynasty dragon make a gracious gift for Tet, and it arrives boxed with a card naming the dynasty, so the meaning speaks for itself.

For your mother She has told you for twenty years not to spend money on her, which is why this will move her: something she would never buy herself, already boxed, from a place she will want to hear about. If red is bolder than she wears, Phoenix Dance in pink carries a meaning of grace and new beginnings that mothers often love.

For an anniversary Jewelry is expected and compared with last year; a red silk square arrives as a surprise, and she will wear it to the dinner you booked.

For a friend who dresses in black The loveliest companion for a black wardrobe, and rarely something she would buy for herself.

What arrives in the box

A rigid gift box and matching bag · the square folded in tissue · a story card naming the motif and its dynasty · an illustrated styling guide · a care card · the silk cutting.

Nothing left for you to wrap. Sending it straight to her? We write your note by hand and keep the price out of the parcel.

Ten ways to wear one square

If the thought is I would never wear it, for you or for her, read on: a square this size has many roles.

At this size: headband, ponytail wrap, neck knot, bag handle, wrist wrap, belt through jeans, twilly roll, a band round a hat, tied to a suitcase handle so you spot your bag first, and framed on a wall the rest of the time. Go up to 36 inches and you add the full head wrap, the turban and the sleep wrap.

That last one is not a joke. It is a hand screen print on silk.

The dragon of the imperial citadel

Hoang Thanh Thang Long, begun in 1010, is the imperial citadel at the center of Hanoi, and the dragon cut into its stonework is gentle and unhurried. Ly Dynasty dragons curve like moving water, head raised, a pearl at the mouth and a flame crest lifting behind, and they carry the wish for rain, rivers and a harvest brought in.

Bodhi leaves and lotus sit around him. Our studio redraws every motif by hand from archive photographs, then prints it in Hanoi panel by panel, each color through its own screen.

The drawing is ours, and our guide to what the Dragon Dreams motif means gives her the full story to share.

“Is red too much for someone like me?”

Scale decides it far more than color. Twenty-six inches of red folded down to a knot at the neck shows about as much color as a pair of statement earrings, and worn open as a head wrap it becomes a bolder, happier choice.

How to wash silk without ruining it

Easier than people fear, and less often. Silk sheds dust on its own, so every three to five wears is plenty.

Reds want one extra courtesy: wash this one on its own the first time, in cold water, with shampoo or body wash rather than laundry detergent. Squeeze, never wring. Dry in shade, never in sun, because sun is what takes the depth out of a red. Iron on the lowest silk setting while still faintly damp.

One square of deep red silk,
and the outfit is complete.

A precious gem symbolizing an ancient culture, where tradition and modern creativity converge to create a refined and meaningful beauty.

  • Inspiration Behind The Dragon Dreams

Inspired by thousand-year history of Thăng Long Citadel, "Dragon Dreams" is recreated from the original artifacts such as dragon of Ly Dynasty, the curved rooflines with Xi Van - the Roof guardian of imperial architecture, Bodhi leaves from the flourishing Buddhist era and the iconic lotus pedestal of the 11th-14th centuries… recreating a mystical realm between reality and dream, past and present, where sacred dragons unite on the scarves of our time.

  • The Essence of The Dragon Dreams

"Dragon Dreams" print on silk scarves recreates the Ly Dynasty Dragon in a spiral composition converging toward the Lotus Throne. The border features pairs of Xi Van, ancient roof guardians protecting against fire, enclosing a mystical sky of swirling clouds, bodhi leaves, and lotus flowers. With graceful lines and harmonious colors, these scarves breathe new life into heritage, honoring Vietnamese culture on its journey to the world.

1. Mulberry Silk Products

1.1 Is silk environmentally friendly? How can I distinguish silk from other artificial silk fabrics?

Silk is a completely natural fiber with a production process that does not require the use of chemicals for bleaching or fiber processing. Therefore, silk is not only environmentally friendly but also gentle on the skin.

Distinguishing natural silk from synthetic silk fabrics can be based on various factors such as texture, surface effect, softness, light reflection, and how the fabric reacts to temperature. Among these, the "burn test" is the most effective and definitive method. Here are the characteristics of different materials when subjected to the burn test:

100% Silk

  • Burns quickly but extinguishes immediately.
  • Leaves ash that smells like burnt hair, crumbles easily, and does not stick to hands.

Silk blended with synthetic fibers

  • Melts rather than burns.
  • Leaves an unpleasant burnt plastic smell and ash that forms clumps and sticks to hands.

The materials used in Folk Form’s products are independently tested at the Textile Testing Center (TTC) under the Vietnam Textile Research Institute.

1.2 How can I use a silk scarf? Which size is suitable for me? How can I style my scarf?

Folk Form offers a variety of sizes for each pattern from 55x55cm to very large sizes such as 110x110cm to meet the diverse needs of customers. Depending on the needs of use, there are the following options:

Size 110x110

  • A large size that exudes elegance and sophistication. Can be worn around the neck for a refined look at formal events. Draped over the shoulders for warmth on autumn evenings or styled as a trendy lightweight jacket. This size can also be tied into a skirt, perfect for vacations or beach outings, adding a feminine and alluring touch.

Size 90x90

  • The most versatile size, suitable for almost all styling needs. Can be worn around the neck to enhance an outfit, tied as a stylish handbag accent, or used as a fashionable hair accessory. Additionally, it can be worn as a wrap skirt for beach trips.

Size 65x65

  • A compact size for those who love a light and delicate touch. Can be worn around the neck for a youthful look, used as a headband, or tied around the wrist as a unique, stylish accessory.

Size 55x55

  • The smallest size, ideal for adding a chic touch. Can be tied onto handbags, used as a simple yet standout hairband, or worn around the wrist as an elegant accessory.
1.3 Are the scarf patterns hand-drawn or digitally designed? How do they compare to other designs on the market?

The scarf patterns are digitally designed to be compatible with handmade screen printing on silk.

Compared to hand-drawn designs and other printing technologies, digitally designed patterns ensure sharp details and intricate elements. When combined with handmade screen printing, the final product features clear details, vibrant colors, and uniform quality on both sides of the fabric— a level of precision that most other printing methods cannot achieve.
