The empress's bird, in the royal record
In 1121 a stone stele was raised at Long Doi Pagoda with a heading written in Emperor Ly Nhan Tong's own hand. Its text, the Sung Thien Dien Linh inscription, describes the phoenix as the image of good omen and peace.
It records the bird on the royal bed, on the palace roofs and on the royal chariot. The phoenix was the empress's creature, the partner to the emperor's dragon.
On purple, the drawing reads deep and formal rather than sweet, which is what a black-tie room needs.

The standard cut drapes loosely on a bust up to 37 in / 94 cm. There is no waist seam, so it skims the body rather than fitting close.

Yes. 100% mulberry silk, made from the hand-printed silk we use for our Phoenix Dance scarves.

Why $386
Purple is a deep ground, and every color that sits on it is printed by hand through its own screen. Across a dress this long, that is a great deal of careful printing, followed by matching the phoenix from panel to panel.
We cut and sew each one to order in our own Hanoi atelier and ship it direct. The import duty is ours, so there is no charge at the door, and $386 is the price.
Will it arrive before the gala?
Standard size: 1 to 3 business days to leave Hanoi, then 9 to 15 business days of delivery. About three and a half weeks is safe.
Made to measure: 3 to 5 more business days for tailoring.
What if it does not fit?
Standard size: return it within 30 days, unworn and unwashed, in the original box. Change-of-mind return postage is yours, and store credit adds 15%.
Made to measure: outside the 30-day return, with one complimentary alteration included instead.

How to care for it
We recommend dry cleaning. Mention that it is silk.
If you wash it yourself, hand wash it cold. Never use a machine. Dry it out of direct sun.
