If you want to give her silk but do not know whether she wears scarves, start here. A necklace asks less of her than a square. It goes on over the head and that is the whole instruction.
About 180 beads, each wrapped by hand in mulberry silk over a light wooden core and knotted in place. The silk is the same hand screen-printed cloth our scarves are made from, so every bead shows a different piece of the print. No two beads match.

Orders leave Hanoi in 1 to 3 business days and reach a US address 9 to 15 business days later. Under $90 shipping is a flat $20; add a silk square and the whole order ships free.
Why printed silk, and why red
Our motifs are redrawn by hand from archive photographs of Ly and Tran Dynasty art, then printed one screen and one color at a time. Wrapped around a bead, a motif breaks into small pieces: a curve of line, a patch of ground, a flash of a second color.
From a few steps away the strand reads as warm red texture. Up close you see that it is drawn. That is the quiet version of a printed silk, and it is why the necklace works on days when a full scarf would be too much.
Red in our palette comes from architecture rather than fashion: the vermilion lacquer on the columns of old temples. It sits well against black, white, navy and denim, and it adds warmth to a plain neckline.
Four ways to wear one strand
Long Straight over the head. Easiest over a plain knit or a shirt dress.
Doubled Two loops, one at the collarbone and one at mid-chest. This is the version that reads most like jewelry.
Knotted once A single loose knot shortens it and breaks the line.
At the wrist Wound several times and tucked, as a bracelet.
No length to choose: at 44 inches it simply goes over the head. The whole strand weighs less than a folded scarf.
Is it real silk?
Yes, mulberry silk, cut from the same printed cloth we use for our scarves.

Why $75
Two things set the price. One is hand work: around 180 beads, each one wrapped in silk and knotted in by hand. There is no metal, stone or plating here, so you are paying for time rather than material.
The other is the print. Our plain silk necklaces are $64. The printed ones are $75 because the silk goes through the screen press, a color at a time, before a single bead is wrapped. Everything is made in our own Hanoi atelier and posted straight to you.
Will it arrive in time?
Allow 1 to 3 business days in Hanoi and 9 to 15 business days in transit to a US address.
For a birthday or a holiday, order at least 18 business days ahead, about three and a half weeks.
Duties and returns
Duties: Folk Form pays the US import duty. Nothing is added at the door.
Returns: within 30 days, unused and unworn, in the original box. Change-of-mind return postage is paid by you, and store credit adds 15% to the value.
Giving it
It arrives gift boxed. Use her address for shipping and yours for billing, add a message in Order Notes, and we write it by hand on a card. There is no price anywhere in the parcel.
